I don’t usually do this kind of thing (since technically I’m supposed to be a Sonic channel) but the OST for Orb: On the Movements of the Earth released recently and I saw that no one had done this yet, and so capitalized on the opportunity. . . This anime is one of my all-time favourites, both as a weeb and as a Christian. I love how it handles and discusses various ideas of science, philosophy and theology, and in how it ties these concepts into the storytelling and character motivations. It portrays God and Christianity in a nuanced yet respectful way, where both the protagonists and antagonists believe in God and both use this belief to justify their actions. . . The word ‘thaumazein’ comes from ancient Greek, and means ‘To marvel, to wonder, to be amazed’. It appears in the Bible at Matthew 27:14 and Mark 15:5. How fitting is it that this is the title of a song that inspires such transcendent awe and wonder. . . I really would like to do an in-depth analysis of the history, science and theology behind it, but maybe in the future when I’m less busy. I do highly recommend you give it a watch, even if you aren’t a Christian, because it is just that PEAK!. #orbonthemovementsoftheearth
