Parties found responsible for Taiwan’s deadliest train crash in over 70 years, which killed 49 people and injured over 200 in April 2021, have been ordered to pay more than NT$23 million (US$720,000) in compensation. The Hualien District Court ruled that contractor Lee Yi-hsiang and two associated companies are liable for 60% of the payments, while the Taiwan Railways Corporation is responsible for the remaining 40%. Lee, whose truck caused the derailment after it fell onto the tracks, was previously found guilty of negligence and sentenced to over seven years in prison.. . #train #railway #crash #accident
